7TH ANNUAL DAY AT THE CAPITOL

APRIL 6, 2016

TIME: 9:00 AM – 3:30 PM

AMVETS members are invited and encouraged to attend and meet your state legislators. The California Department of Veterans Affairs will also brief attendees on new developments. It is important that AMVETS members attend the Day at the Capitol to help educate Legislators and their staffs on the many issues of importance to veterans.
A free continental breakfast and lunch buffet is available for registered attendees. The day is spent at the State Capitol meeting your local legislators, educating legislators and staff on veterans issues, and hearing from key legislative and Administration speakers.

Closest parking to Capitol; lOth and L; entrance is on lOth.
Weekday Rates (6 a.m. to 5 p.m.); $1.50 each half hour; $18.00 daily maximum charge

Driving Directions:
From Redding:
1-5 South to Sacramento. Exit J Street (Exit 519-B) and proceed east to 15th Street. Right at 15th Street, stay in right lane. Right at L Street, stay in right lane. Right on 101h Street, stay in right lane. The entrance to the Capitol Parking Garage is a few hundred feet on your right.

From San Francisco Bay Area:
1-80 to 1-5 North at Sacramento. Exit J Street (Exit 519-B) and proceed east to 15th Street. Right at 15th Street, stay in right lane. Right at L Street, stay in right lane. Right on lOth Street, stay in right lane. The entrance to the Capitol Parking Garage is a few hundred feet on your right.

From Los Angeles:
1-5 North to Sacramento. Exit J Street (Exit 519-B) and proceed east to 15th Street. Right at 15th Street, stay in right lane. Right at L Street, stay in right lane. Right on lOth Street, stay in right lane. The entrance to the Capitol Parking Garage is a few hundred feet on your right.

From Lake Tahoe:
Highway 50 West to 1-5 North at Sacramento. Exit J Street (Exit 519-B) and proceed east to 15th Street. Right at 15th Street, stay in right lane. Right at L Street, stay in right lane. Right on lOth Street, stay in right lane. The entrance to the Capitol Parking Garage is a few hundred feet on your right.

Lodging:
The two most commonly used, moderately priced hotels for Capitol Legislative Day events are the Holiday Inn and the Vagabond Inn. Both of these motels are about% of a mile from the Capitol and most people walk to the event. The Hyatt and the Sheraton are across the street from the Capitol but are somewhat pricey. There are other hotels and motels in the Capitol area and they can be accessed at the following web-site: http://sacramento.hotelguide.net/hlldt.htm   Most of these places have an airport shuttle. Call for details. As of February 2013, a taxi ride from the airport to the Capitol was about $35. For the trip back to the airport, taxis are on standby at the Senator Hotel across the street from the Capitol on L Street between nth and 121h.
